The San Francisco FallFest last weekend was actually just the first stop in the LangeTwins sustainability tour this fall.  As the original and very first California recipient of the Leopold Award in 2006, we have been asked to participate in the Generations of the Land Symposium hosted by Texas A&M and the Sand County Foundation.

The October 24th symposium on campus at College Station will include about 200 participants of Texas landowners and students.  Three Leopold Award winners, including LangeTwins, will be presenters addressing issues of land ethics, sustainability and generational transition of property.

And since Aaron has taken the lead in the Lodi Rules campaign, our third party certification program, it was just an easy fit to throw him into the fire and ask that he share our stewardship philosophies.  He’s armed with a presentation that he and Joe spent some late nights creating (shades of college term papers!)  All the family scrapbooks were strewn over the dining room table as they looked to find pictures of them as children planting trees in some of our restoration areas.  The photos record some dramatic changes in their lifetime of habitat restoration on our farms.

We’re proud of our sustainability record and more proud of the way the next generation are carrying the mantle for future growth.
